Tea for me

Well, I was thinking "What should my first blog post be?", considering I officially became a Tea Master only two days ago, I have decided to make it about green tea.

Adding green tea to your day is a good way to boost your health. Green tea is not oxidized like black tea , but steamed or pan fired, and is high in antioxidants, green tea contains an abundant plant-derived antioxidant compound called polyphenols. Drinking green tea helps to protect the body by fighting against free radical activity. (free radicals are the cause of all sorts of illness and disease)
The caffiene in green tea is only about half what is in a cup of coffee. Tea contains L-Theanine which has a calming effect on the central nervous system, which counters some of the stimulating effects from the caffiene.
Well, some people have said to me, "that is great but green tea is bitter". Well the thing most people don't realize about green tea is that because the leaves are more delicate than black tea, it needs to be steeped in cooler water (approx 170 or 2-3 minutes post boiling) and it also needs to be steeped for only 2-3 minutes instead of 5 minutes. Follow those directions and you will have a sweet tasting tea every time!
I have several great-tasting, high quality teas; Green tea tropical, Strawbery Green tea, Cherry-Rose Festival, Gyokuro (my Favorite!), lucky Dragon and peppermint Green Tea. they are not expensive and taste wonderful, even the kids LOVE them!

Todays mission: Go have a cup of Green Tea!

  2. I love the green teas. I found them a little difficult to get used to after being a coffee drinker but now I look forward to a couple of cups of green tea each day.
